I Eavesdropped and Recorded Two Elderly Men’s Conversation
(13/365)
I sat near two elderly men in a coffee shop and, without their knowledge, recorded their conversation. This is a segment of their conversation.
Man 1: “It’s because we don’t use images. We use the same words over and over again. That’s the biggest part. The other thing is with technology… The reason I say I got stuck good on it is because I say I want to be faster.”
Man 2: “You’re gonna be stuck on it. Real good.”
“I wanna do it the way I wanna do it”
“Right. The way you wanna do it. And I—I’m gonna make that harder. I’m gonna be doin’ it. I gotta job. I gotta make this thing work. And this is it.”
“See I can download folders and all this uh on the web and everybody can get to. I can download it on the machine as and soon as I turn it on. It can be there. I don’t have any talent.”
“Well see what you’re doing is you’re showing them something they don’t understand. Let them see the benefit of it. Everything is good. It’s good to reach out and think about things you didn’t think about before and they will think about things they hadn’t thought about before.”
“I’m really frustrated because I show up on Wednesday and read the bulletin and by the time I show up on Sunday everything has changed and they didn’t even bother to tell me.”
“It’s like this little piece of information needs to go here and that little piece needs to go there and they think it’s just easier to do it on their computers.”
